The 6th principle of Fair Trade refers to the importance of paying the fair price; by fair payment, we understand acceptable social remuneration – in the local context – that the producers themselves consider fair and that respects the principle of equal pay for work of equal value performed by men and women. Fair Trade organizations support the development of capacities that producers require to enable them to set a fair price.
The 6th Principle: Fair price
The 6th Principle of Fair Trade refers to the importance of paying the fair price; by fair payment, we mean an acceptable social remuneration. In the local context, that the producers themselves consider fair and that they respect the principle of equal pay for work of equal value performed by men and women. Fair Trade organizations support the development of the capacities that producers need to enable them to set a fair price.
But how do we establish an acceptable social price? Establishing a cost structure, giving value to the effort and work of our stakeholders, respecting the current legal framework. The price structure is used to set the minimum price. In addition, this information must be the domain of our stakeholders.
ASPAGRO has a clear commitment to fair trade and with that approach, within the framework of the sixth principle of fair trade, implements, manages and complies with the following:
- The salaried worker receives at least the current minimum wage.
- The payment per unit produced in a given time is related to the current minimum wage.
- The price of the product / service paid to the supplier covers at least the cost of production.
