Peruvian agriculture in the times of Covid 19
Organic agriculture in Peru has been in sustainable growth in recent years thanks to the positive impact it has had, both at socioeconomic and environmental levels in different parts of Latin America. However, Covid 19 has presented new challenges for its progress and strengthening, creating new spaces to improve and stay current in the new situation.
These spaces include objectives such as the maintenance and growth of sales, constant production levels and the updating of means for the normal development of activities.
Why is it important to maintain sales levels in the production of organic agriculture in Peru?
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI), organic agriculture is based on the culture of family production. It makes production the livelihood of thousands of families in the interior of the country. That is why it is important that agricultural producers maintain job stability and thus families do not see their situation affected.
New measures
As part of the strengthening plan the Peruvian agriculture is participating in an innovation process that includes involvement in social networks and management of virtual sales. Besides other processes to carry out, modernize the course of a possible sale and thus generate a greater scope.
In this way, it is not only expected to strengthen the relationship, despite the distance, with the users. But also to promote a sustainable sales channel as well as a knowledge platform on the benefits of agriculture.
